' Draft: March 1d, 1999 ~ • Page 8
The existing A Groove monitoring wells include 29-3 and 19-2. Monitoring well 29-3 is in
the well field and will monitor cross-gradient or down-gradient trends, depending on the position
of the mine cavities. Monitoring well 19-2 is across-gradient well.
' The existing Uinta Formation wells are 20-5, 20-8, and 20-10. Monitoring well ZO-5 is a
down-gradient well, water we1120-8 is adown-gradient water quality and water supply well, and
' monitoring well 20-] 0 is across-gradient well.
2.4 Groundwater Monitoring
' The groundwater monitoring wells will be monitored on a once per month basis. During
these monitoring events, the elevation of the groundwater level will be measured and the well will
be sampled for the water quality parameters listed in Table 2. Once per annual quarter, the water
quality parameters list will include the expanded se[ of parameters listed in Table 3. The water
quality samples will be collected according to U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
approved procedures.
' Table 2. New wells will be placed where existing wells do not provide
' adequate coverage. The monitoring plan proposed for the +5 yeaz phases will be refined based on
the groundwater flow characteristics defined by the 0-5 year monitoring plan.
