Lorenciro Canyon Mine - SoiB Technics( ReOart
• Fughes Clay Loam, 3 to 9 percent slopes (map symbol C2D) has 48 to 60 inches of salvageable
soil. The texture of the upper horizons is generally sandy clay loam or clay loam. A high clay
content or excessive gravel may limit the use of some horizons.
Louviers-Sarcillo-Trag Complex, 3 to 25 percent slopes (map symbol PjE) has 0 to 36 inches of
salvageable soil. Avery shallow topsoil over very cobbly subsoil renders much of this soil
unusable for reclamation. However, usable soil from 6 to 36 inches thick is present in scattered
locations.
Fuera-Dargol-Varner Complex, 3 to 25 percent slopes (map symbol P3E) has 48 to 60 inches of
salvageable soil. The texture of the upper horizons is generally sandy clay loam or clay loam.
A high clay content may limit the usefulness of some horizons.
Saruche-Rombo Complex, 35 to 50 percent slopes (map symbol C3F) has 6 to 36 inches of
salvageable soil in areas where slopes are not too steep to prevent salvage. The upper horizons
are gravelly loam or gravely clay loam. A shallow depth to bedrock or high gravel or cobble
content limits the depth of useful soil.
Louviers-Rombo-Travessilla Complex, 30 to 65 percent slopes (map symbol PjF) generally has
no soil which would be usable for reclamation. Limitations are a very shallow topsoil over very
• cobbly subsoil, shallow depth to bedrock, and steep slopes.
A soil salvage plan is included in the Reclamation Plan of the Permit Document (2.05.4). It
discusses the horizons which the operator proposes to salvage within each portion of the permit
area.
SECTION 4 -REFERENCES CITED
Munsell Color. 1975.
