-5- <br />3. Surface Water Inventory <br />Water courses, springs, stockwater ponds, reservoirs, and ditches in the <br />Curtis Creek drainage are located in Figure 2. The existence of springs, <br />etc. was determined from a surface water inventory. The principal water <br />source is Curtis Creek, a tributary of the White River. At least 38 surface <br />water sources exist in the Curtis Creek drainage upstream from the mine. <br />r All but perhaps 1 or 2 water sources are man-made stock ponds that were <br />constructed by excavating natural seeps and springs. All ponds will contain, <br />' and most will spill during active snowmelt runoff periods. Most can be <br />expected to store water throughout the summer during all but the driest <br />years. Photographs of several typical ponds are presented in Appendix I. <br /> <br />• <br />
