level is expected to be 4448-4449', this would leave a lake of approximately 9.0-10.0 feet depth.
Once Phase 3 is mined out, the barrier berm between Phase 1 and 3 will be dozed on the surface so
that the elevation of the berm is approximately one foot above the equilibrium ground water level,
which is 4448-4449'. The berms will also be slightly excavated where they meet the outside perim-
eter to a depth of 4446', so that the resulting berm azeas will form two wetland islands of approxi-
mately 40 feet width. These islands should be excellent for wildlife habitat once the site is re-
claimed.
Operation Items
The entire reserve consists of 1,226,000 tons of sellable aggregate over an expected mine life of 6.1
yeazs. Most of the sand and gravel is planned to be used for asphalt. Asphalt production will nor-
wally occur periodically between the months of Mazch and November and all asphalt production
which occurs will be limited to the identified staging azea. Maximum production for portable plants
is about 5000 tons per day. The plant will meet or exceed all State and Federal pollution require-
ments, and is inspected on a regulaz basis by governmental authorities. Hot bituminous pavement
made on site is not stored in the permit area; it is taken dtrectly to the job site. The operation will
use an existing access road on the FMM property to gain access to Highway 50. Primarily, 24 ton
belly dumps will be used to haul asphalt as well as processed sand and gravel from the site. Materi-
als maybe shipped with 14 ton tandem trucks.
No unprocessed material or waste concrete or asphalt to be recycled will be brought to the site.
Also, there will be no blasting for any part of the mining or reclamation activities on site.
The total disturbed azea is 69.27 acres, which is the entire permit azea. It should be understood that
this entire azea has been previously disturbed and unreclaimed from past refinery operations. The
breakdown of this acreage given below is based on a worst case disturbance for the life of the pit:
Area Description Acreage
1. Soil Stockpiles 0.0
2. Processing area (in staging area) 6.0
Gilsonite Pit 9/03 15
