1•'a/TSS -Ratios of 1?.^:TSS (ur~mg) r.ere much lo•~~r than for Fe~T:,S but ~,em
also quite variable. The total range for all P;orth Fo.-k stations was 0.01-210
(e_:cluding TSS vz_lues of one or less), l,s r,~ith Fe~TSS values, tae late i•;ay--late
J.u~e period uas low and also was very cersistert (range C.Ol-0.04). Dining the
remainder of the sarpliag period ti1-' nid-Goober the 2n~TS5 values ragged from
0.4-163.
Differences in P~ TSS ratios were apparent betr:een the upper stations (°r-la
and -Zb) and lower stations (":r-3a and -L:a) during part of September and October,
reflecting exceptionally high manganese values at these tti:o stations. Fxclucing
these hic,~, manganese periods the P'n~TSS value_ ranged from 0.4-32 rather than a
high of 163.
PSn~TSS ratios ir. ?•:innesota Creek ra.^.ged frcm 1.6-10.5 du:zng the ~.u~:s:,--
October period (excluding TSS values of one or less).
( :•
Cc:-~aris ors
T'nere are no extensive t~~TSS values from previous periods fcr co-,pariscn.
Limited data from the ldorth Fork showed a range of 0.5-39 r-^~'. However, it was apparent that whatever Sector caused a low ratio for iron
in Pray and June also ai'fected total manganese levels in the same direction. High
ratios of P:n~TSS at stations "~-3a and -4a during October reflected a source of
manganese originating in the area bett:een idr'-Zo azxi -ja and map possibly- be related
to sand and gravel operations in. the x-iver.
•
3_ z9
