• FUNCTIOIJ DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Backfilling the portal face-up area requires the use of a one cubic yard
capacity backhoe to pull the bench material on to the portal bench.
Grading is completed by a Caterpillar 12G motor grader. This final
grading function restores the disturbed areas to the contour shown on
the Post-Mining Topography Map (Map 2).
Ripping the regraded surface is completed by a Caterpillar 12G motor
grader equipped with scarifier ripper. This function roughens the
graded surface prior to soil replacement, increases infiltrations and
provides a surface which the soil material will bond.
Topsoil replacement is completed by loading and hauling the topsoil
stockpile to the regraded areas by a Caterpillar 6Z 16 scraper. The
• scraper will spread the topsoil on the graded and scarified surface.
Seedbed preparation includes chisel plowing, discing, and/or harrowing
the area on which the topsoil has been placed prior to seeding and
planting.
Mulching and Anchoring Straw mulch will be applied by hand or a mulch
blower. Crimping will be accomplished with a disc or mulch crimper.
Netting will be accomplished by hand and will be fastened with staples.
Crimping and netting will be completed where required to ensure that the
mulch material is stabilized until a vegetation is well established.
Seeding and planting includes the cost of seed and plants, and the cost
for planting, drill seeding, broadcast seeding, or woody stock planting
as required.
n
LJ
