February 12, 1982
Mr. Arthur Dall
Manager - Engineering
ARCO Coal Company
555 Seventeenth Street
Denver, Colorado 80202
Re: Post-Mining Land Use
Bear No. 1 and No. 2 Mines
Dear Mr. Dall:
We certainly appreciated your time on Thursday, February 11,
1982. This letter will confirm our discussion regarding
the post-mining land use for the Bear No. 1 and No. 2 A]ines
near Somerset, Colorado.
Participating in our discussion on February 11th were the
following individuals:
• Arthur Dall - ARCO Coal Company
Don McSparran - ARCO Coal Company
William Bear - Bear Coal Company
Alan Czarnowsky - ACZ, Inc.
Jon Pratt - ACZ, Inc.
The purpose of our meeting was to discuss the post-mining land
use for the area currently utilized by the surface facilities
of the Bear No. 1 and No. 2 Mines. The area is owned by ARCO
Coal Company ("RRCO"); therefore, a letter from ARCO regarding
the post-mining land use must be sent to the Colorado Mined
Land Reclamation Division.
As a result of our discussion, there was general concurrence
that the Bear Coal Company should proceed in the complete re-
clamation of the entire area for a post-mining land use of
Fish and Wildlife Habitat as defined in the Regulations of
the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining.
The reclamation plans will include sealing and backfilling
of the portal areas, removal of structures, roads, storage
areas, the closure of the ARCO revegetation test plot, top-
soiling the area with available soil material, and seeding,
all as approved by the Division.
We understand that, at this time, ARCO has no alternative
plans for the area to be reclaimed by the Bear Coal Company
