architectural features or rock art and not associated with rock shelters.
Since the topography and vegetation of Oak Creek (along which most of the
unsurveyed buffer zone lies) are similar to those of the Trout Creek area,
it is probable that prehistoric sites of the former would compare in type
and frequency with those of the latter. The effects of blasting on open
campsites without architectural features are considered likely to be mini-
mal.
Several Euro-American structures occur in the buffer zone, one of
which was recorded as 5RT152; the others have not been recorded. While
first-hand evaluations of these other historic properties have not been
made, previous studies, including that of the Haybro District (Grand
River Institute 1981), have identified no historic sites eligible tc the
National Register either within or near the study area.
We recommend that this report be considered a declaration of negative
findings with respect to the possible effects of blasting on cultural
resources within the Edna Mire }-mile buffer zone.
Arthur, Christopher and Calvin H.
