I. Portion of wooden structure. Consists of several angular members and one
• flat board face. It is located immediately south and slightly downhill of shed (H).
Its proximity to the tipple area indicates it may have been part of the tipple
complex.
J. Rock wall in hillside with wooden object in association. Presumably a
wooden wall which once stood on the rock foundation. The wooden object consists
of wooden planks with cross members to which boards have been nailed.
K. Concrete floor and portions of concrete wall foundation. Constitute The
remains of a heavy mochine shop. The building was rectangular -- the north half of
the floor was concrete, the south half dirt. The concrete wall is approximately three
feet high and six inches Thick. Several randomly scattered wooden beams were found
on the south or dirt half of the floor along with some small mine track spikes. A
concrete piling is located in the north half -- presumably a support for heavy
machinery (see Photo 2).
L. Broken concrete slabs pushed into an embankment created by a bulldozer.
• Presumably from additional foundations in the area. Located To the south and
slightly uphill from machine shop floor (K).
M. Stack of decomposing poles (approximately twelve inches diameter) lying
uphill and slightly south of L. It is unknown whether these were destined To be mine
timbers and were never used. whether they ~.vere pulled from the mine during
retimbering operations, or whether they were of so me other use altogether.
N. Flat concrete slab in hillside (which may be remains of a building floor) with
several broken chunks of concrete below. A few nondescript metallic fragments of
mining equipment in deteriorated condition also lie here. Feature is located due west
and above machine shop (K). This marks the western extent of structural remains
in the tipple area.
O. Fragmentary remains of concrete foundation in hillside above tipple and
north of N. Broken, deteriorated condition of remains does not permit interpretation
of their function.
•
