3.1 -Structural Practices
Stormwaters (precipitation) and associated sediments entering active pit and hauUloading areas will be
contained by using a combination of sediment retention berms, haul road ditches and silt fences (where
necessary). As there will be no waste rock or disposal area stockpiles at this site it will only be necessary
to install BMPs adjacent to the active areas of the pit, along haul roads and at site access points.
The proposed operations will have minimal impact on the surface and ground water resources in and
around the affected area. Site operations excavating into and upslope to remove weathered rock boulders
and or aggregate would encounter no groundwater and the operation will be a dry pit operation with no
effect on water rights, drainage, or the hydrology of the area.
3.2 -Non-Structural Practices
Non-structural BMPs at the site will consist of preservation of existing vegetation adjacent to [he
exterior boundary of [he area of mining operations. The hill/slope generally funnels all stormwaters to the
active operations area which will be fully contained by a berm. The ultimate reclamation for the disturbed
hillside areas is for rangeland and possible real estate. (BMPs consisting of sediment retention berms, haul
road ditches, and silt fences will be utilized to limit any stormwater impacts.)
3.3 -Materials Handline and Saill Prevention
Standard procedures will be utilized in storing and handling fuels (or any chemicals/fertilizers
etc...) to minimize the potential for contact with stormwater and potential runoff into adjacent areas. Such
procedures may include berming and lining around fueling and storage areas. Bags of fertilizer or other
