I\TP.ODUCTION
• The Terror Creek Company ("TCC") plans to operate a coal Toadout
facility near Bowie, Colorado. Operation of the facility is planned to
begin during February, 1983. Coal that is purchased from local mining
companies will be screened and loaded on the railroad by this facility
for shipment.
Geographic Setting
The TCC loadout facility will be located approximately one half mile
south of Bowie, Colorado, off County Road 4365, as shown on Figure 1,
General Location Map. The facility is adjacent to the main line of the
Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. The elevation of the site is
approximately 5,885 feet above sea level. Access to the site is by
State Highway 133 which passes east-west through Somerset and Paonia,
Colorado in Delta County.
• Size and Configuration of Planned Operations
The loadout facility is designed to size coal at the rate of 500,000
tons per year on a one shift per day, five day per week basis. The area
necessary to facilitate the loadout facility sizing operation and
associated structures is eight (8) acres.
The facility will size and load coal which has been purchased from
mining operations in the North Fork of the Gunnison River valley.
The facilities will consist of a truck dump, conveyor belts, coal
crusher, screens, stockpiles and a railroad loadout unit. TCC will
provide a necessary market for small producers in the area by purchasing
coal for sizing and shipment to TCC customers.
The area to be utilized by TCC for its loadout facility has been
. historically used for agricultural purposes. TCC owns the surface which
the facility occupies.
-1-
