The following is a brief summary of the application.
1. The applicant proposes to mine sand and gravel from a 23 acre site just north of the
Arkansas River in Bent County.
2. The applicant states that no ground water will be exposed by the operation.
3. There is no stated water requirement for washing or dust suppression purposes.
4. There will be no settlement or impoundment ponds constructed.
Based upon the above information, this project should have minimal impacts on water resources
in the area. The applicant should be informed that if ground water is exposed in the course of
mining, they will need to obtain a well permit in conjunction with a substitute water supply plan
approved by this office.
Please contact this office if you have any questions.
KVH/clf:carder
cc: Steve Witte, Division Engineer
Dan Neuhold, Water Commissioner
