(a) Frevious mining was conducted by the room-
and-pillar method.
(b) The coal seam being mined is the "C" seam
within the Mesaverde Formation

The formula we used is as follows;
The mine is approximately 1300 feet deep,
The mine is approximately 600 feet xide,
The mine is approximately 6 foot high,
Coal xeights approximately 80 pounds per
cubic foot,
One ton equals 2000 pounds,
60 percent recovery.
1300'times 600' = 73C,000
780,000 times 6' = 4680000
