• • iii iiiiiiiiiiiii iii <br />s~~ <br />EXHIBIT H <br />UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE <br />SOIL CONSERVATION SERVICE <br />SOUS INF'OA~IATION <br />The soils in the affected area are Casca,~o soils and Gravelly Land <br />(2 to 25 percent elopes) (Cg). A complete and detailed description <br />of these soils is found in the 'Soil Survey Of Otem County, Colorado" <br />and attached to this report. In the Boil eurvoy handbook these soilo <br />are located on field sheet ~9 (outlined in red ink) and a complete <br />description may be found on pages 10 and 1~6. <br />In general, these soils ara gravelly, oxcoseively permeable, and bscauee <br />_ of the steep elopes surface runoff ie rapid. In a typical profile the <br />surface layer, about 6 inches thick, is gravelly loam. In the uppor <br />part it is light broanieh gray and has a loose consistence when dry. The <br />next layer, about 15 inches thick, ie very pale-broti+n cobbly, very <br />gravelly loam. It ie rich in lime and has a thick lime coating on tha <br />bottom surface of pebbles and cobbles, IInderlying the above horizon io <br />stratified sand and gravel. I~.,om about j6 to 45 inches is bxrotmish- <br />yelloa silty clay that Se very strongly calcareous and contains many <br />lime concretions. In place, these soils are underlain by pale-yellor <br />soft shale at varying depths. <br />page 4 of 6 <br /> <br />
