Walther
Executive Director
Michael B. Long
Division Director
The Division of Minerals and Geology received your letter of concern about GCC Rio
Grande, Int.'s application fora 1 I2 reclamation permit on May 8, 2002. Unfortunately,
the close of the public comment was May 2, 2002, and as such, your comments were
received too late for official consideration or to obtain party status in this matter.
However, there have been a number of other timely comments received that embodied
the very concerns that were identified in your letter. Furthermore, it presently appears
that the formal public hearing to consider this item will be held in Pueblo. During the
formal public hearing members of the public are typically allowed a short comment
period to register their concerns directly to the board. The date, time, and location for
this meeting have not been established at this time, but we will keep you on the mailing
list for notification once the date is set.
Thank you for taking the time to become involved in the process. If you have any
questions or if I can be of further assistance, please contact Al Amundson or me at (303)
866-3567.
S" e ly, \, \
•'V ~
Anthony .Waldron
Environmental Protection Specialist
Ec: Al Amundson-DMG
Jim Stevens-DMG
