__,
STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Governor
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. BANTA, Dlreotor
DATE: August 4, 1989
T0: Matt Hayes
FROM: Tim King
RE: Somerset Disturbed Area
Using your measured scale of January 26, 1989, to determine an aerial scale
of 1 inch to 504.44 feet, I have arrived at a total disturbed area figure
of 30.39 arses. This was achieved using the TIPS Digitizer and the above
mentioned scale. This figure represents a 46.6% decrease in disturbed area.
The original proposed disturbed area figure is 57.0 acres, as stated in the
Somerset mine permit. The reason for such a h1g"~entage difference is
that the Hubbard Creek and the Bear Creek areas were not included in these
computations.
A copy of the digitized disturbed area is attached for further scrutiny. The
aerial photos used for this analysis were processed in April, 1989, and have
been replaced in the aerial photo file cabinet. Notations on the back of the
photos indicate when it was digitized.
/en
8662E
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
