Bob Sherman assisted Al Miller with sample collections.
He said each sample was a channel sample measuring 3" wide and about
2" deep. The length of the sample was from the bottom of the upper coal
seam to the top of the next lower coal seam. The samples varied in weight
from 5 to 20 pounds each. The samples were taken in s straight line along
the north end of the pit and along the south end of the pit, so they rep-
resent a hole dug straight down.
I hope this clarifies the sampling procedures. They were not grab samples.
If you have further questions, please call.
Very truly yours,
Tommy D. Raye
cc: Bob Sherman
Progress Within Environmental Tolerances
