Box 536 <br />Pueblo, CO 81002 <br />RE: Complaint Letter, Basin Resources, Inc., The New Elk Mine, <br />DMG Permit No. C-81-012, The Golden Eagle Mine, DMG Permit <br />No. C-81-013 <br />Dear Mr. Gonser: <br />On May 12, 1993, our office received a letter from Mr. Michael Ossola <br />with the Las Animas County Planning and Land Use office. Mr. Ossola <br />describes in his letter certain impacts to State Highway 12 being <br />caused by fugitive coal dust from haul trucks used by the operator to <br />transport coal from their mining operations at the Golden Eagle Mine <br />to their processing and loading facilities at the New Elk Mine. We <br />wanted to bring this to your attention in the event the <br />Department of Transportation had any wish to investigate this matter. <br />The Division will be conducting inspections at this site this month <br />and next to address these issues.
