DATE EVENT
February 4 , 1994 Mountain Coal Company (MCC) submitted the
permit application package (PAP) under the
approved Colorado State Program to the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
(DMG) for a permit revision for the West Elk
Mine.
February 7 , 1994 The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSM) received the PAP.
February 14 , 1994 Colorado DMG determined that the PAP was
administratively complete for public review
and comment .
March 16, 1994 MCC published in the Delta County
Independent the fourth consecutive weekly
notice that its complete PAP was filed with
Colorado DMG.
• December 2 , 1994 OSM received MCC' s submittals amending the
PAP.
March 8 , 1994 The Bureau of Land Management provided its
findings and recommendations on the approval
of the mining plan .
June 20 , 1994 The State Historic Preservation Office
provided its comments on the mining plan.
June 30 , 1994 The U . S . Fish and Wildlife Service provided
its final consultation comments on the
mining plan .
November 8 , 1994 OSM received Colorado DMG ' s final Proposed
Decision and Findings of Compliance .
November 20, 1994 Colorado DMG approved the PAP .
December 1994 OSM' s Western Support Center recommended
that the mining plan be approved.
