RECEIVED
AUG 0 8 2003
Division of Minerals and Geology
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Powell's Gravel Pit,Permit No
Uirision ~f Minerals and Geology
M-1995-012
ATTN: Kate Pickford
Environmental Protection Specialist
In regards to the inspection of the Powell's Gravel Pit
on April 7,_2D03 we. have_completed the corrective action_.,~
for the following unresolved issues.
Enclosed are photos of all the boundry markers present to
identify the permit area. Also there is a photo showing
ownership, permit number and phone number.
As explained in the original mining plan, Exhibit D - This
is an old pit that has been mined years ago. The thickness
of overburden in this area varies from as much as Oft. to
2 ft,.as much of it is cliff area.
As stated in every Annual Report and Stormwater Annual Re-
port since this site was first permitted in April 1995,
there has been no mining, excavating or crushing at this
site. There has been some removal of oversized and rip-
rap material. Copies of those reports should be on file
at your office. Should you request copies of those annual
reports I would be happy to send them to you.
The owner Cecil C. Powell has paid another year of Annual
Permit Fees and filled out all the proper reports, they
should be on file. However, he wishes to close this pit
and have it only for his personal use there on his ranch.
Since this pit was never mined there is no stockpile of
overburden and nothing to reclaim.
Please let us know if there is anything else we czin do to
comply with the Mind Land Reclamation Board and clear up
this matter. Thank you.
Si cerely,
J yn~ Kuck - ~.
cc: Cori Mount: DMG
enclosures
