iii iiuiiiiiiiu iii
6/23/98
To: File No. C-81-026, Canadian Strip Mine
Fmm: Sandy Brown
RE: 1998 Vegetation Sampling
I reviewed the sampling plan submitted by Greystone for the 1998 Vegetation sampling at the
Canadian Strip Mine. Overall, the sampling plan is the same as last year with one exception. They
have proposed collecting production data in a 0.5m2 plot instead of the 1 m2 plot they used last year. I
talked to Jerry Koblitz today and he said they would use the same size this year as last year, 1m2.
W ith that change the plan is fine. Sampling is tentatively scheduled for the third or fourth week of July.
Jerry said he would be on site tomorrow to spray any weeds that need to be eradicated. I will meet him
on site when I do my regular partial inspection.
I talked to Jim Perry from BLM yesterday. He was asking about the reinstallation of the BLM fences
that were agreed to a couple of years ago. Jerry Koblitz said they would build the fences once all the
vegetation sampling is complete and found to be adequate, probably later this summer or fall.
SLBrown
