<br />INTRODUCTION <br />This document is the renewal decision package prepared by the Colorado Division of <br />Minerals and Geology (the Division) for the Canadian Strip Mine located east of the town <br />of Walden in Jackson County, Colorado. This document includes: 1) the proposed decision <br />to approve the permit renewal application; 2) a summary that includes a history of the <br />review of the permit application, a description of the environment effected by the operation <br />and a description of the mining and reclamation plan; and 3) the written findings of <br />compliance the Division has made as required by the Colorado Surface Coal Mining <br />Reclamation Act. Detailed information concerning the findings of compliance can be found <br />in the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining. <br />The Division has received an application for a permit renewal to conduct surface coal <br />mining and reclamation operations at the Canadian Strip Mine. The application was <br />submitted by Wyoming Fuels. During the renewal process there was a change of operators <br />and the permittee/operator is now Slurco Corporation. The Mine will be operated by the <br />Slurco Corporation for reclamation only activities. The mine is on federal lands within <br />Jackson County, Colorado. The legal description of the ]ands included within the permit <br />area is: <br />The mine site is 12 miles east of Walden. The legal description of the property <br />incudes: <br />T.8N, R.78W, 6th P.M. <br />Section 10: SE 1/4 NEl/4 NEl/4. Containing 10 acres. <br />Section 11: Wl/2 NWl/4. Containing 80 acres. <br />Section 2: Beginning at the point 1225 feet N89~47'21"E from the NW <br />corner of the SW1/4, Section 2, thence N 8947'21"E, 700 feet, thence S <br />0012'39" E, 1500 feet, thence Southwest to a point on the South section line <br />that is 1530 feet S 8938'00"E of the SW corner of said SW1/4, thence <br />N89~38'00" W, 1530 feet to the SW corner of said SW1/4, thence N <br />0001'03"W, 300 feet, thence N 4044'00"E, 1250 feet, thence NE to a point <br />of beginning.
