This site is
located in a portion of the NzSF~ and the WzNW~ Section 28, Township 14 South, Range 92
West of the 6th P.M. Delta County, Colorado. Please be advised that the Delta County
Board of Commissioners has purchased this property in 1988 which they have leased for
the past 12 years as a landfill site. I have enclosed a copy of a proposal sulxnitted to
the Colorado Department of Health to amend the Certificate of Designation to allow asbe-
stos waste disposal in the "gob" disposal pit. Also, if possible, the county would uti-
lize the rest of the "gob" disposal for trash disposal. We are mainl concerned about
the falmability of the gob if used for solid waste cover material. We woul appreciate
any comments you might have on the compatability-of_using-the '~ob"-pit £or-solid_waste
disposal. If you wave any laboratory data or analysis on this 'gob" material at the
North Fork Landfill please forward that informiation to us. -- -
It is important to the County that this solid waste disposal site be used to its ful-
lest potential. Therefore, the count would tition ou to suspend Tans for reclamatio
of this site until the county s completely used this area or t e so id waste landfil .
Thank you for your attention to this matter and if you should have any questions re-
garding this matter please contact me. Also, if we are being presumptuous regarding
your permiting and bonding of this site please inform us inorder that our plans might
dovetail with your responsibilities.
Truly,
Kenneth Nordstrom
Director of Environmental Health
Delta County Health Department
103 West 11th Street
Delta, Colorado 81416
874-9715
/'
KN:iwp
