February 4, 1994 Mountain Coal Company (MCC) submitted the
permit application package (PAP) under the
approved Colorado State Program to the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
(DMG) for a permit revision for the West Elk
Mine.
February 7, 1994 The Office of Surface Mininq Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSM) received the PAP.
February 14, 1994 Colorado DMG determined that the PAP was
administratively complete for public review
and comment.
March 16, 1994 MCC published in the Delta County
Independent the fourth consecutive weekly
notice that its complete PAP was filed with
Colorado DMG.
December 2, 1994 OSM received MCC's submittals amending the
• PAP.
March 8, 1994 The Bureau of Land Management provided its
findings and recommendations on the approval
of the mining plan.
June 20, 1994 The State Historic Preservation Office
provided its comments on the mining plan.
June 30, 1994 The U.S. Fish and Ldildlife Service provided
its final con sultation comments on the
mining pl an.
November 8, 1994 OSM recei ved Colorado DMG's final Proposed
Decision and Findings of Compliance.
November 20, 1994 Colorado DMG ~ipproved the PAP.
December 1994 OSM's Western Support Center recommended
that the mining plan be approved.
