Joe Welts, Ron Gallagher, and Lonnie
Loader representing Summit Brick and Tile along with Dan Grenard of the
BLM were in attendance.
Initially we would like to compliment you on your well planned operation
which is resulting in a concurrent mining and reclamation program.
We discussed the reseeding program with Carl Mount of CMLR on May ls,
1987. We have revised the seeding recommendations for the recontoured
area and would prefer that the following measures be incorporated into
your plan.
1. The seeding should take place after October 1, 1987.
2. Fertilizer should be incorporated into the soil at a rate of 40
lb/acre of both phosphorous and nitrogen. CMLR may recommend a
variation in this mix.
3. Although not discussed, it may be desirable to incorporate a
mulch such as straw into the seeded area to retain moisture.
4. Driving a dozer across the slope using a one or three prong
ripper prior to seeding may be advantageous for erosion control.
s. The following seed mix should be substituted.
. Western wheatgraes 4 lbs/acre
. Indian Rice grass 3 lbs/acre
. Blue Gramma 2 lbs/acre
. Crested wheatgrass 2 lbs/acre
. Russian Wild Rye 2 lbs/acre
. Four Wing Salt Brush 2 lbs/acre
. Winter Fat 1 lb/acre
. Yellow Sweetclover ~ Ib/acre
. Cicer Milkvetch '~ lb/acre
TOTAL 17 lbs/acre
.r.
