z
~ 1
SLOPE STRRILITY MONITORING PLAN ~^ ~`~nn~
~.i .! c~ I~~.:,

In order to monitor the stability of reclaimed slopes monuments will be
placed and monitored according to the following plan.
The monuments will be constructed as shown in Figure 1. Each monument
will consist of a smooth metal pin 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter and 7
feet in length. The pin is to be buried in the ground to a depth of 7
feet. If rocK is encountered at a depth of less than 7 feet the rocK
1s to be drilled for a depth of not less than 1 foot and the pin resin
grouted into the rocK. R plastic pipe 2 to 2 1/2 inches in diameter
and 6 feet in length is placed around the pin uith the top of the pipe
flush with the top of the pin. The void between the pin and the pipe
is filled with dry sand or soil. A cap to Keep out moisture is Placed
over the pipe. The monument can be placed flush with the ground,
counter sunk or placed as shown in Figure 1 depending on the amount and
type of traffic in the area. In all cases the monuments are to be
staKed and well flagged.
The monuments are to be placed in sets of two as shown in Figure 2.
The first monument of each set is to be placed in the rim or top of the
slope fill area. The second monument in each set is placed in the toe
or bottom of the slope fill area. The exact placement will be
determined by the supervising engineer at the time of reclamation.
These monument sets are to be placed along the slope fill on 7~r to1QQ
feet centers. Rga1n the exact placement will be determined by the
supervising engineer at the time of reclamation.
;LOPE MONITORING
A surrey of the monuments is to 6e performed annually to detect
horizontal ar~d/or vertical movement. This survey is to be certified by
either a registered ]and surveyor or professional engineer. In
addition to the survey the reclaimed slopes are to be inspected
annually by a professional engineer and certified as to the stability
of the slopes.
