Results of the quarterly ground water monitoring are submitted to the Division
immediately after data collection and analysis. Results of additional monitoring are
submitted in an annual hydrologic report (AHR). The AHR will detail inflows,
discharges and consumption of water within the mine and shall be structured around the
normal "water year" (October 1 through September 30). No specific due date for AHR
submittal is specified in the permit application document, although the AHR has
generally been submitted in January. The following stipulation is included to specify
a due date for AHR submittal.
STIPULATION NO. 26
THE ANNUAL HYDROLOGIC REPORT (AHR) COVERING THE
PREVIOUS WATER YEAR FOR THE MCCLANE CANYON
MINE WILL BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 1
EACH YEAR.
SURFACE WATER
Surface water hydrology description is provided in Sections 4.2.2 and 4.2.6 of the
permit application. The surface water monitoring program is described in Section 4.2.7.
Required analytical monitoring parameters are specified in Table 4.2-15, and monitoring
sites are depicted on Figure 4.2-2.
RN-04 amendments included clarification in the application text that East Salt Creek and
McGlone Creek flow data would be obtained by measuring rated culvert depths, rather
than use of a continuous recording station and crest stage gage, and several
modifications were made regarding required analytical parameters. In response to
Division request, the downstream sampling point on East Salt creek was relocated to the
Munger Canyon bridge, and the operator committed to flow measurement at that
location.
Surface water quantity and quality will be monitored upstream and downstream of the
disturbance in McClane Canyon and on East Salt Creek upstream and downstream of
the confluence of McClane Canyon and East Salt Creek in a manner approved by the
Division. The monitoring plan was submitted under 2.05.6(3)(b)(iv), and includes the
following, pursuant to 4.05.13(2).
SW-1 and SW-8 (East Salt Creek upstream and downstream): Quarterly Flow and
Quality.
SW-2 (McClane Creek below mine bench): Flow and quality, once during spring
snowmelt, and once during storm event runoff.
SW-5 (McClane Creek above mine bench): Water quality samples twice a year,
once during spring snowmelt, and once during storm event runoff.
18
