This
project is located within the permit boundary of the Eagle 5 & 9
Mine located approximately 6 miles south of Craig, in Moffat
County, Colorado. The proposed project would be within Section 31,
T.6N., R.91W of the Eagle mine permit boundary.
The project is designed to gather additional subsurface information
about the nature, extent, and location of burning zlreas within the
Hart/Wise Hill coal mine fire area, and protect the state highway
from future subsidence due to migration of the fire.
The DMG Coal Program finds that the project proposeed by IMP is not
related to the current mining activities of the E,sgle Mine. The
Hart/Wise Hill coal fire is considered a pre-law mirlinq disturbance
as defined under the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of
1977. The Eagle Mine permitted by Cyprus Empire Corporation has no
reclamation responsibility for the Hart/Wise Hill coal fire.
cc: Erica Crosby
Larry Routten
Marcus Middleton/Cyprus
c:\eagle\950316
Empire Corp.
