All
sedimentation controls and surface water control devices will be maintained as required by the
terms of the existing permit. Noxious weed monitoring and control efforts will continue. The
openings to the mine have been guarded with gates to preclude entrance of unauthorized
personnel.
Grand Valley was forced to curtail active operations because of market conditions but
remains committed to resuming active operations at the earliest available opportunity.
I have also been in contact with Susan Burgmaier of your office today. She has requested
that a few of the water sampling parameters on Table 4.2-15 that were removed from the list on
the June 26, 1996 submittal be replaced. A request was also made to allow a six month lag time
for the effects of recent mining to be monitored prior to instituting the "Short Suite" .These
changes have been made on the attached Table 4.2-15.
Sincerely;
. ~i2i~
John M.
