Box 4440 Division of Minerals and Geology
Durango, Colorado 81302
Dear Mr. Dillon;
~°R~l v
This is in response to your August 19, 2003 request for a permit extension of your
Department of the Army authorization for the Sandco gravel operations (DA # 199475346,
199475348, 199475349). This office considers your request incomplete at this time. In a
letter dated July 14, 2003, addressed to you, this office requested that you demonstrate that
your operations are incompliance with the permit conditions prior to this office granting a
one year extension. In your August 19, 2003 and September 19, 2003 response to this
request, you did not submit adequate information for this office to determine that your
project is in compliance. Please submit factual information addressing each condition of
your permit, including the conditions of the State's 401 Water Quality certification. Please
include across-sectional survey containing the channel elevations before and after the 2003
mining activity and the 1996 low-flow channel elevation. In addition, please include a table
of the surveyed elevations for every horizontal foot for each cross-section. After submitting
the above information, please contact this office to set up a meeting to discuss the possibility
of extending your permit for one more year.
If you have any questions, please contact me by telephone at 970-375-9452 or a-mail
me at kara.a.hellige~spkOl.usace.army.mil: .
Sincerely,
atfttAt-StF~-~~'
Kara A.
