TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
SUBJECT: Agency and public requests for extension of the comment period for l;~epartment
for Department of the Army permits under authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act
(CWA) and for the water quality certification under Section 401 of the CWA. The request
for extension of comment period pertains to each of the following public notices rel;azding the
continuation of excavation and the discharge of dredged and fill for gravel mining operations
at the Animas River. The project sites are located north of the City of Durango, L<< Plata
County, Colorado. Public notices for the following permit application numbers were
originally issued on Mazch 13, 1996 with a comments due date of April 15, 1996.
