Ms. Elaine Mautz - 2 - December 7, 1993
BEAR MINE (continued)
As mentioned Friday, Bear Coal Co. has submitted a Permit Revision which
proposes additional mining under Sections 11 and 18. I have asked
Bear Coal Company to provide a specific notification to you regarding this
revision. The revision was received December 2, 1993, and we deemed it
complete as of December 3, 1993. We will initiate our technical review
shortly, and a final decision will be rendered in the next 4 to 6 months. A
copy of the submittal should be available in Delta shortly. Again, please feel
free to contact us, if you have any trouble locating the submittal
information. Please also contact us with any questions or concerns regarding
the submittal.
MOUNTAIN COAL COMPANY
Mountain Coal Company's proposed permitting actions are kept at the
Gunnison County Courthouse for public review, and they are also available for
public review at our office in Denver. I am sure the mine site also maintains
a copy. Regarding records and documents which have already been approved, the
mine site is the designated location for public access. We also maintain
copies in Denver. Again, please contact us if you need assistance locating
specific information.
Regarding the spring issues, we had been waiting for the water rights
information from Larry prior to taking further action. I understand that you
will forward whatever materials are available in the near future. In the
meantime, I have contacted Mountain coal Company to reiterate the need to work
with you in resolving any outstanding issues. We will complete our
investigation of the facts in the next two to three weeks.
After that, we would like to meet with you and Mountain Coal Company, perhaps
in the beginning of January, at a location that is convenient for you.
I hope that this has helped, and please call if you have any questions or need
assistance.
Happy Holidays!
Since
~ 'Da d Berry
~' ~, ~n' Environmental Protection Specialist
DAB/ern
9419E
