Please <br />assist further with the forwarding avid review of Map! and Federal/State <br />Flood Plain Regulations Costilla County can adopt._At315tance is necessary <br />in this area review to preserve and protect the watershed. <br />A proposed 500 acre open pit mine site and 2 100 acrp.Cyanide heap leach pads <br />are planned not including the ponds, roads and the IONS of Cyanide that will <br />be needed to process the Gold. <br />Phase 1 of the Battle Mountain Gold Company included 150 Drill sites that in- <br />cluded Major disturbance to the Terrain which is included in the Rito Seco Mater <br />Shed. Approximately 1000 pinion trees were distroyed•: Water use for the test <br />drill sites was in the thousands of gallons already ytsed. <br />The Mine Land Reclamation because of the short growira3 season ctn never reclaim <br />the area for the vital need of the water shed. Grass.Cannot replace trees. Water <br />is crucial to survival and the number one priority of water use is for Agriculture. <br />Attached is a copy of the Rito Seco Water Shed whicFi;lncludes tFle proposed Mine <br />Site and the destruction of a major segment of the W ar Shed. Nlood Plain Naps <br />should be readopted to preserve/conserve water.
