A third issue discussed at the meeting involves removing the cement plant from the permit azea
and having the cement plant and CKD regulated by another agency. Attached is a 1999 DMG
Memo regazding issues of long-term storage at limestone mines. In particular, the Division met
with representatives from Holnam, the American Portland Cement Alliance, and the Hazardous
Materials and Waste Management Division (HMWMD) where it was determined that DMG is
the appropriate agency to regulate CKD disposal. Any variance from this may require future
discussions between CEMEX, DMG and HMWMD.
Larimer Pit M-1977-341: The Division briefly discussed the status of the bond release request
(SL-Ol) for the Larimer Pit. The inspection report of 12-6-02 outlines the reasons for denial of
the release request.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 303-866-4943.
Si r ]y,
~~~~Cc~
Erica S.
