Monitoring conducted in August of 2002 detected no methane and showed normal concentrations of
oxygen and carbon dioxide in the soils in this area. Following discussions with the property owner, the
Division and Basin personnel, it was decided to reseed the area. Floyd Chavez ripped the areas in mid-
November of 2002 to a depth of 6-8 inches. Prior to ripping, he broadcast seeded oats as his cover crop of
choice. On December 26, Basin broadcast seeded the area with the approved reclamation seed mix at a rate
of 25 lbs. PLS/acre. A straw mulch was applied at a rate of two tons per acre.
Basin will monitor vegetation through the 2003 growing season, and will check the three methane
monitoring sites in August of 2003.
Please call me if you have any questions regarding this report.
Sin erely,
or ~L
on Thompson
Enclosure
