Box 944
Carbondale, Colorado 81623 _ ^_ -~
RE: Permits for two pits
Dear Mr. McNulty:
In response to your letter of January 25, 1979, I believe it must first
be determined whether or not you actually need a permit. As you say,
these are old pits operated by both Garfield County and the Colorado
Department of Highways, which I assume are to be used for road construction
and/or maintenance. You also say they are on agricultural land. Most
gravel pits are on agricultural land, but my question is primarily
what the gravel will be used for. Are the pits used exclusively for
extracting gravel for your ranch or will the gravel be mined and sold
to other partiesl With this information we can obtain a determination
as to the need for a permit.
If it turns out you need a permit, I would be happy to meet with you
and explain what you must do to obtain a permit. 1 will be looking
forward to your response.
Sincerely, ~
Mark A.
