Memo to Erica Crosby January 7, 2006
Review of Slurry Wall Design Report Permit No. M-2000-158
in Shazkey's Pit, then the DMG will use detailed dimensions from the construction report to estimate the
costs used to establish the amount of bond under the 20 percent bonding option. If ground water will be
exposed prior to completion of the slurry wall, the dimensions of the slurry wall provided in the Design
Report can be used to establish a direct cost for 100 percent slurry wall replacement and establish the
amount of bond to be required. Note that the water table in the Sharkey's Pit area, based on investigations
conducted for prepazation of the Design Report, is just 3.9 to 8.3 feet below the ground surface. As a result
only overburden stripping and very limited mining maybe conducted at Sharkey's Pit without exposing
ground water to the atmosphere.
cc: H.
