999
The Corley Company
Phone 692-5050 P.O. Boz 1821
COLORADO SPRINGS COLORAO08O9O~ RFCEIUEp
Nov. 18, 1994 NOV 2 1 1994
Mr. Jim McArdle
Division of Minerals & Geology Division o~ ~wmerais & Geology
1313 Shermar. St.
Dem'er CO 80203
Dear Mr. McArdle:
The Corley Company would like to make the following formal complaints
concerning the GEC East Pi[ work.
]. The westerly slope of Chen's Hill and Che northerly slope of the hill
between the East and West Pits are steeper than 3:1 H:V.
2. There is almost no topsoil on the westerly slope of Chen's Hill.
3. She drainage ditch along the road at Che toe of Chen's llill has not
Iunctioned adequately. This ditch has become completely filled with silt
near the entrance gate c,ith most of the water and sediment entering Energy
Fuel's sediment pond. The silt deposition is sufficient to cover the first
strand of barbed c.'ire on the fence on the west side of the road.
4. The silt deposition on the. road will probably close the road during next
year's rains.
5. The road has nearly been washed ovt near the East Pi[ because of
ir:adequate provision for water to cross the road.
6. She entrance gate was damaged by the construction machinery, and we have
asked the contractor to replace the gate.
7. The entrance ga*_e post was removed by the contractor. He did n M. rep]ace
the post correctly; requiring that the post support be bent to connect to the
post. The post needs to removed again and reset with the correct
positioning.
8, The contractor's dozer was parked for an extended time outside the gate.
The dozer has leaked a considerable amount of oil thaC should be removed.
9. :°ios~ of the concrete structures have nct functioned. Most were not
installed ccrrectly.
Sincerely,
~'v
W,D. Corley,
President
