You are notifying
the BLM of your intent to expand a gravel pit. The legals presented in the public notice that you
included in your letter, Section 23, T 15 N, R I S W, do not exist in Colorado. I spoke with Ms.
Goode on July 27, 2007 to confirm the location of the pit. Ms. Goode indicated the pit is located
near Stinking Springs. Per the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety website,
the correct legal should be section 23 NWSE, T 36 N, R 15 W.
A review of the land status indicates that BLM manages public lands to the north and east of the
location. Ms. Goode indicated that Mesa Sandstone intends to expand the pit to the west. The
proposed expansion will not occur on public lands.
Thank you for notifying us of your intentions. Please call me (970.385.1359) if you are
considering any activities on public ]ands, or have any questions or comments.

Helen Mary Johnson
Geologist
cc: BLM -Dolores Public Lands Office
CO DRMS
~~
