RE: Map Scale Conversions for Enlarged Maps
As requested during our phone conversation from 1 1 /5/96, I have prepared a brief
explanation for approximating scale for enlarged map sections. Please find attached, two
copies of USGS 7.5' quad. Base Map copy is standard 1:24000 scale 11"= 2000'1,
Enlarged Map copy scale is approximately 1:15964 11 " = 1330'1.
Scale of Enlarged Map was determined by dividing ground distances by map distances.
Ground distances were determined from the known scale of the Base Map. Three
distances were compared to calculate an average scale for the Enlarged Map.
