Given that the current reclamation bond is now adequate to cover
rem fining reclamation liabilities at the site and that Camp Bird has indicated that the Phase I area
will be seeded this week with a temporary seed mix. The Division will grant the extension request.
3.1.3 of the Hard RocktMetal Mining Rules and Regulations specifies that all reclamation
be carried to completion...with reasonable diligence, and each phase of reclamation shall be
Meted within five years from the date the operator informs the Board or Office that such
has commenced. The Division recognizes 1999 as the year reclamation began on both
I and Phase II. Therefore reclamation of the site must be completed by the end of the
field season.
Recl motion completion includes vegetation establishment, so the site need to be at final grade,
and ave all revegetation tasks accomplished no later than fall 2002, This timeframe should allow
ode uate time for vegetation establishment by the fall of 2004. Reclamation within this
time rame must be accomplished whether the access bridge is replaced or not. Camp Bird must
sch dule accordingly to make Ievisions to the permit that are necessary to complete reclamation.
If th access bridge is not replaaced by fall of 2001, Camp Bird must contact the Division with
propo~sed plans to complete reclamation in 2002. If these plans contain any revisions to the
perrrhit, they must be submitted and receive Division approval prior to March 31.2002. In the
mea time, site maintenance must continue to maintain stability and control weeds.
If yo~3 need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology,
Durango Field Office, 701 Can-lino Del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, telephone no.
970247-5062.
o~ coLOr~Do
S.
