Demobilization
This item shall include all labor, equipment, and costs associated with demobilization and
clean-up of the work site to its original or better condition. All equipment and supplies,
materials, and debris related to this project will be removed from the site upon completion.
The CONTRACTOR shall also reclaim any staging area or other ground disturbed during the
course of the project located outside of the project area as defined by this Bid Document. All
haul roads shall be fully regraded and reclaimed upon completion of the project. Additional
final grading shall be accomplished, if needed, to reduce steep slopes and contour on the
project site areas not specifically addressed in the work plan. The work
will include grading, so that drainage is away from the A.T. & S.F. railroad tracks, and
revegetation of a portion of the site, near the Baca Ditch.
Work Description
The area containing coal to be removed comprises some four (4) acres, and extends
approximately 950 feet north of Linden Avenue, between the A.T. & S.F. Railroad tracks and
Baca irrigation ditch. Coal depth varies between 4 and 31 inches as shown by thickness
contours on Map #3. Coal and other imported rock will be removed to a depth sufficient to
obtain a 1 °,6 grade away from the railroad tracks. Grading shall begin six (6) inches from the
ties at their bottom elevation. This will cause surface water to collect in a swale located west
of and paralleling the Baca ditch. Near the railroad tracks the bottom of the coal layer to be
removed is marked by the presence of red limestone ballast, otherwise natural soil is present.
Removed material is to be disposed of at the City of Trinidad landfill located on Indiana Street,
approximately 2 miles from the loadout, or the municipal power plant located on U.S. 160-
135, near the north city limit of Trinidad, one mile from the loadout.
The general location of a sewer manhole is shown on Map #3. The contractor is responsible
for locating all above and below surface utilities and protection of same from damage. The
Baca ditch is an active irrigation ditch and is not to be filled or otherwise interfered with.
Revegetation of the disturbed area will be limited to a 100 foot wide section paralleling the
Baca ditch.
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment for Task #2. Payment for Task #2 will be
reflected in a lump sum bid under Item #2 on the Bid Schedule.
6
