Special Review • •
Lyons Stone Quarries
Page -2-
e. Existing zoning: FA-1 Farming
f. Access: County Road 27; minor
3. Quarries have operated on this site or in the vicinity sine about 1887.
According to available information, this mine is part of the area originally
Union Pacific Railroad in 1887. The railroad line constructed to haul s
quarries apparently crossed the eastern portion of this site. The quarry
abandoned in 1922, and was reopened in 1950. Apparently it has t
sporadically since that date. Equipment will include bulldozer, forklifts, st
several trucks used to haul the material
4. Even though this is an existing quarry, the traffic from it does have an
impact on the county road system. Individually, this impact is minim 1, but when
combined with that from the other quarries in this region, the impact on th condition of
the county roads is significant. It is anticipated that this type of im act will be
adequately and appropriately addressed in the offsite road development poll y now being
developed. Therefore, these owners should be put on notice that they will b required to
comply with the terms of this policy as it relates to mining operations, in or er to ensure
