revised permit document of October 16, 1986, Section 2.04.7(3);
"The system has approximately 60 taps in service and is capable of
handling 100 more taps with the present water source (Archie
Petersen , 11/82, Colby Domestic Water System Board member)."
Because of the elapsed time since that statement was made, an
update of the permit narrative regarding the potential for Colby
water taps is in order.
3. The Division has reviewed the conditions under Rule 4.05.2(2) for
removal of a sedimentation pond. If pond removal is desired, the
following information is required:
a. The request must be submitted in the form of a technical
revision.
b. A demonstration must be made that the disturbed area draining
into the pond is revegetated and stabilized. Stabil ization
through revegetation should be separately and specifically
addressed.
c. A demonstration must be made that the untreated drainage from
the disturbed areas does not contribute additional suspended
solids above natural conditions.
d. A demonstration must be made that the untreated drainage from
the disturbed areas meets the state and federal water quality
standard requirements applicable for receiving streams, after
treatrnent facil ities are removed.
e. If the pond receives any discharge from an underground mine,
the pond must remain in place until the discharge from the mine
continuously meets effluent limitations without treatment, or
until the discharge ceases.
4. The Division requests that the status of all wells in the Red
Canyon Mine be updated as the reclamation plan calls for sealing of
these wells and bonding must be adequate to include this.
III.
