y ~.
quired for Grading D and EX (passes 1/2 inch
sieve) and Grading F (passes 1 inch sieve).
Bed Course Material - would meet requirements if blended for Class 8
and crushed (passes 3/4 inch sieve) for Class A.
Structure Backfill - will meet requirements for Class 2, blending is
required for Class 1.
CONCLUSIONS
i The following conclusions are based on the results of the field and
laboratory investigations:
1) Fine aggregate (sand) comprises approximately 56 percent of the
~ total aggregate.
2) Course aggregate (gravel) comprises approximately 38 percent of
the total aggregate.
. 3) Approximately 4.5 million tons of aggregate are available on the
site. ,
4) Ground water was encountered at a depth of approximately 20 feet,
~ and may have to be pumped out during excavation.
5) Based on our test results, the aggregate meets Colorado State
Highway Specifications Por Class 3 Aggregate for Bases and Class
~ 2 Structure Backfill. With blending and/or crushing the aggre-
gate should meet specifications for Aggregate for Bases, Aggre-
gate for Hot Plant Mix Bituminous Pavement, Bed Course Material
~ and Structure Backfill Material.
-6-
•

•
•
•
