Report <br />COAL LEASE APPLICATION C-44693 <br />Overview <br />In response to an emergency bypass coal lease sale application by Western <br />Fuels-Utah, Inc. additional coal will be offered for lease by competitive <br />bid. The lands are located approximately ten miles to the northeast of <br />Rangely, Colorado. Present acreage is 344.31 (see attached legal <br />description with map). These lands are adjacent to the present Deserado <br />mine and Logical Mining Unit. <br />D seam coal is the only coal considered recoverable on the applied for <br />lands. This coal is only underground recoverable. We recommend to the <br />Colorado State Office, BLPI that this be the only coal contained in the <br />lease. <br />The described areas, coal reserve values, and other pertinent coal lease <br />sale information will be subject to further evaluation and modification by <br />the BLM based on public comments, and other geologic, engineering, and <br />economic considerations. <br />Non-Coal Mineral Resources <br />The lands are not known to contain other significant amounts of leaseable, <br />saleable, or locatable mineral deposits. <br />The area may be potentially valuable for oil and gas production as the <br />Rangely field, the largest producing oil field in Colorado, is located <br />approximately five miles to the southwest.
