Las Animas <br />Planner Michael Oaeole said that the strip miner is planning <br />on strip mining approximately 20 acres in the Engleville area. <br />"This strip miner has one permit which entiteles him to strip <br />mine 2 acres now." "Once and if approved through the Division <br />of Mine and Reclamation, this miner x111 have to go through <br />the Las Animas County Planning and use Office for a Special <br />Land use Permit sometime in this month of August or Septem- <br />ber of this year." All of this information is on public <br />record, and is in the Planning and Use Office room #lOl} at <br />the courthouse here in Trinidad Colorado." (around has already <br />been turned in the Engleville area, and a cement slab of Oft. <br />Uft. has already been poured for the proposed "shopsite." <br />The foothills et the base of Fishers teak are already getting <br />to be full of scars made by the heavy bulldozers that have <br />been making multitudes of roads way bacx into the foothills <br />of the Fishers Peak area. There ie a very large road that runs <br />from Engleville all of the way to the Allendale sub-division, <br />Are the coal or minerals going to be transported through the <br />Allendale vicinity, or is it going to be transported through <br />the County road which runs through the Engleville area? <br />The old schoolhouse foundation of Engleville now sits only <br />several yards away from the proposed "Shopsite", and to the <br />East of the shopsfoundation where this miner has already scraped <br />away the old baseball and football field sits the foundations <br />of the old <br />
