If any trash is encountered during excavation for channel construction, trash will be hauled off to
the nearest County approved landfill site.
Measurement and Payment
No unit measurement for payment will be made for Item 2. A lump sum bid for drainage
construction will be reflected under Item 2 of the Bid Schedule. The price bid will include all of the
Contractor's cost of whatever nature to provide a drainage channel in accordance with the drawing
and specifications, including all labor, equipment, excavation, hauling, regrading, operating
supplies, salaries of operators and any other expenses incidental to the operation of the equipment
in the performance of the channel construction in accordance with this specification and bid item.
ITEM 3- DRAINAGE CONSTRUCTION -ROCK OUTCROP TO SLOPE CHANNEL
An eight (8) foot wide drainage course will be constructed to provide positive drainage from the
location where the slope channel day-lights on the bench to the rock outcrop ledge as located in
the field. The drainage will be constructed according to the attached Drawing 2. Drainage Course
Rock Outcrop to Slope and Check Dam x-section and Plan WITHOUT the riprap requirements.
Check dams will be contructed at 50' intervals from with riprap per attached Drawing 1. Check dam
riprap, available on-site, will consist of an evenly distributed combination of 60% minimum 4'
diameter rock riprap, 20% 2' to 3' diameter rock and 20% 12" to 18" rock. The 4' diameter rock
will be keyed into the bottom of the constructed 3:1 channel through excavation placement not to
extend more than 30" high. The check dam will be constructed in a V shape with the middle of
the V situated 4' in slope length, up slope in elevation. The check dams will be constructed so
that the riprap elevation down channel and up the side slopes will be 24" higher in elevation than
the middle portion of the check dam. Riprap will extend a minimum 4' up the side slopes. Side
slopes to the constructed channel will be at a maximum 2:1 slope. Positive drainage will be
maintained from the bench cut to the east, into the drainage channel.
Material as a result of drainage course construction may be excavated and hauled to or graded
against the excavated bench cuts. Prior to depositing or grading excavated material against the
excavated bench cuts, existing vegetation and soils to a 24" depth will be graded off and stockpiled.
Stockpiled vegetation and soils will be evenly redistributed over the deposited material from
drainage course construction upon completion of earthmoving procedures.
If any trash is encountered during excavation for channel construction, trash will be hauled off to
the nearest County approved landfill site.
Measurement and Payment
No unit measurement for payment will be made for Item 3. A lump sum bid for drainage
construction will be reflected under Item 3 of the Bid Schedule.
