October 2, 2001 III IIIIIIIIIIIII III • <br />To: James Stevens, Larry Oehler <br />From: James Dillie <br />Re: Call from Mike Eytel, Fairplay Water Resource District, Bullger Basin Placer,M-1985-022 <br />Mr. Eytel called to inform me that another mine site I inspected did not have aiwater rights <br />problem. <br />In addition, he asked if I had heard that there was a diesel spill at the Bullger Basin placer <br />about two weeks ago. I told him I was not aware that anyone notified the DMGof the <br />possible problem. Mr. Eytel said he and Mr. Dennis Pontius, with WQCD, inspe d the site <br />where they found diesel in the creek that flows through the mine site. Mr. Eyte said he <br />talked to Joe Dodge about the problem. He said Mr. Dodge informed him that t e hose on <br />the diesel tank had been cut. Mr. Eytel also said that the diesel tank did not ha e a safety <br />berm, or any kind of collection system, around the tank facility. <br />Mr. Eytel said that WQCD plans to issue a violation for contaminating surface waters. <br />Mr. Pontius' number is 303-692-3566. <br />
