Ms Stepe indicated that she or her husband,
John Akin, could not attend the 8/22/01 meeting due to a doctor appointment. She
stated that such late notice of the meeting was cruel. I attempted to remind Ms Stepe that
the original notice (6/10/01) indicated that the meeting was scheduled for August 22-23.
2001. I attempted to clarify for Ms Stepe that the 8/22/01 meeting was for the Board to
decide whether or not the petitions would be heard. If the Board determined that the
petitions would be heard, the hearing would occur during a latter Board meeting. Ms Stepe
indicated that the Line Camp had already violated three permit conditions. I attempted to
explain to Ms Stepe that none of the issues she raised appeared to be a violation of the
DMG reclamation permit. However, I encouraged Ms Stepe to write a letter of complaint.
James Preston 882-4245 Talked with Mr. Preston. Mr. Preston stated that he didn't
know what we (DMG) were trying to do, but that the parties were going on the notice
previously provided by DMG. I stated that DMG's 6/10/01 notice was correct. The
8/22/01 meeting was for the Board to decide whether or not they wanted to hear the
petitions. If, during the 8/22/01 meeting, the Board determines that they want to hear the
petitions, such a hearing will be scheduled for a latter Board meeting. Mr. Preston stated
that he or his clients would not attend the 8/22/01 meeting.
